Please tell about yourself.
I am Vinodtha Sethuraman, a 24 year old full time Communication student, pursuing my Degree at Universiti Sains Malaysia. I am also very much passionate about modeling and being in the show business. I was selected as the finalist for Miss India Penang 2016 and Miss Malaysia Petite Spokesperson 2017. I hope to inspire girls all over the world. I would like to raise awareness among Tamil community about our roots.
How is your life after your participation in the pageants?
After the participation in pageants, I have become more confident and bold. I am not afraid to try. Life has become a lot more challenging as people started to see me differently.
How do you manage your time as a student and as a model?
It wasn’t easy initially, being a model especially a pageant girl and a student at the same time. I had to travel a lot and at the same time cope up with my assignments and exams. Sometimes I have to burn the midnight oil and sacrifice my sleeping time. I somehow always give more priorities to my studies. I would make sure that I’m always keeping up with classes and assignments and during the weekends I would focus more on modeling.
How long have you been modeling and what inspired you to pursue modeling?
I started modeling last year after I joined my first pageant, Miss India Penang 2016. I always wanted to be a model. When I was 10 years old, me and my mum would watch America’s Next Top Model. Being a kid I was amazed and excited to see a group of bold woman competing. However being petite I did not have the guts to try until last year. When I saw a pageant advertisement in Facebook , I decided to attend the audition.
What are your strength and weakness as a model?
Both my strength and weakness as a model is that I’m petite. Being petite I get limited offers and opportunities. Runaway models needs to be tall and I can’t join pageants like Miss Universe or Miss World Malaysia. Somehow, being petite motivates me to keep striving for more. I would like to break this stereotype and be an example for all the petites out there.
How do you keep healthy and fit for modeling?
Honestly I am not much of a gym person or someone who controls on food but whenever I have free time I would go for a jog and work on my cardio.
Do you have spare time for hobbies? If yes what are they?
During my free time I like watching movies and listening to songs.
How do you define success?
To me success is making healthy relationship with people. When you managed to have friends like family and build a family like friends, you are always a successful person.
Do you have any plans for any feature films internationally?
Being in international films has always been my dreams. If I’m given the opportunity to be featured I would definitely go for it.
Are you into any charity work or awareness program?
I’m currently not into any charity programs due to time constrain. However, I have participated in awareness programs which was specially organized for the children in under developed areas on the importance of education. I would to want to get involved more on programs that emphasize on the importance of education.
